Tea Tree Oil General Information
The Tea Tree gained its name from Captain Cook, after he found the aromatic resinous leaves made a satisfying substitute for proper tea. A century and a half later, an Australian government chemist studied Tea Tree leaves and found strong antiseptic qualities in the leaves. After that, Tea Tree became the standard for treating wound infections. Once antibiotics became widely available, Tea Tree oils were no longer used as a primary treatment.
