Heather General Information

Heather Uses & Scientific Evidence For
Today, Heather is used mainly as a urinary antiseptic and diuretic, disinfecting the urinary tract while increasing urine production. A liniment made from the flowering tips can be rubbed on joints affected by rheumatism, arthritis, and gout. A warm poultice of Heather tips is used for chilblains. This herb is also used for enlargement of the prostate, gastrointestinal disorders, and colic; liver and gallbladder disease. It is even used for respiratory congestion, insomnia, agitation, and wounds. Mexican Heather works well in treating indigestion, dysentery, wounds, bruises, and muscle pain.

Heather Dosage Information
To make a Heather tea, pour boiling water over 1-2 grams of finely chopped Heather and after ten minutes, strained. Drink 1 cup 3 times a day. For other formulations, read and follow product label directions.
