Guarana General Information
Guarana is a South American berry, that when extracted, consists of guaranine, a substance identical to caffeine. For thousands of years, natives of the Amazon used the seed extract to help maintain stamina and physical endurance. Traditionally it was also used to assist in the relief of various ailments such as stress and nervous tension, weight control, headaches and hangovers, and even menstrual pain.
Guarana Uses & Scientific Evidence For
In addition to treating the conditions listed above, Guarana is useful for mild diarrhea, intestinal cleanser, urinary tract irritation, and headaches of a rheumatic nature. Some claim it has aphrodisiac effects, though there is no evidence to support this claim.
Guarana Safety & Interaction Information
Since Guarana has caffeine effects, it is advised to limit daily intake to a maximum of 600 mg a day. Those who have high blood pressure or heart conditions should not use this supplement.
