Is HGH the Fountain of Youth?
While chronological aging can't be slowed or reversed, biological
aging can be. HGH, Human Growth Hormone, is one of the most
abundant chemical messengers produced and secreted by the pituitary gland. HGH
is not a steroid but rather a protein and its production in high quantities is essential
for growth during childhood and adolescence and must also remain
present in lower levels as we age to maintain our health and
vitality.
Normally everyone's HGH production declines significantly as they age. At about age 40, blood levels of HGH may be 60% lower than at age 20. Decreases in human growth hormone are often accompanied by the symptoms of aging.
One of the ways to increase HGH levels in the body is by
expensive injections or oral spray of human growth hormone cultured and
grown from a single original human growth hormone cell, which are
very expensive, ranging from approximately $1000 to $1,500 per
month or more. BEWARE dangerous side effects have been reported! Some cases of companies using synthetic HGH have also been reported!
However, another less expensive and more natural way to help increase HGH levels in the body is by using natural HGH releasers. Even though our pituitary
gland produces and stores HGH, over the years it releases less
and less HGH into the rest of our body. By helping the pituitary
gland to naturally release more HGH into the body, we can
increase our available HGH and enjoy the benefits of higher
HGH levels.
Numerous studies have shown boosting HGH levels has the following benefits:
- Reduction of sagging Skin, Fine Lines, & Wrinkles,
- Help control and reduce over weight conditions,
- Faster Nail Growth,
- Higher Energy,
- Fewer Joint Problems,
- Normalize Low or High Blood Pressure,
- Improve Emotional Stability and Brain Function,
- Improved Stamina,
- Reduction in Cholesterol and Triglycerides,
- Sounder Sleep,
- Enhanced Muscle Tone,
- Better Digestion,
- Improved Eyesight,
- Faster Recovery from Wounds & Muscle Soreness,
- Enhanced Sexual Function & Desire,
- Greater Body Flexibility,
- Hair Growth,
- Diminished Cellulite,
- Softer skin,
- Reversal of Osteoporosis,
- Enhanced Immune Function
Homeopathic HGH
Rather than supply the body with large amounts of hormones orally
or by injection, the goal of homeopathic hormone supplementation
is to prompt an increase in the body's own hormone output by using small amounts of laboratory grown HGH to induce the body
to produce its own, or by using Amino acids and herbs. The following
is a list of supplements and herbs being used to enhance natural HGH production.
- Niacin is a highly effective stimulator of HGH. Several scientific studies have clearly demonstrated niacin to increase
short-term HGH levels.
- Amino acids and Amino Acid blends containing pure free-form L-Glutamine, L-Arginine, L-Lysine HCL, Citric Acid,
Malic Acid, Stevia Extract and Ginger Oil.
- L-Arginine and L-Lysine have been shown to
demonstrate a synergistic effect in relation to the release of HGH. According to a 1981 study, doctors discovered that combined the two are 20 times more effective as GH releasers together versus individually.
- L-Arginine Amino Acid is also shown to reduce the HGH inhibiting
mechanism of the pituitary gland. Diabetics and borderline diabetics can only use L-Arginine under their doctor's supervision as it may oppose the action of insulin.
- Glycine amino acid increases growth hormone by stimulating the pituitary gland. It is necessary for central nervous system function. Glycine is beneficial in increasing output during exercise and helps retard muscle degeneration.
- L-Glutamine is another amino acid, which has been shown to be a powerful GH releaser. University studies have shown that at a precise dose, glutamine can raise GH levels more than 4 times.
- L-Ornithine is a powerful amino acid and lipotrophic (fat burner)
which has a reshaping effect on the body. It is also a proven GH releaser when used in proper combination with other ingredients.
Click Here For more information on Amino Acids and a list of Quality Products!
Other supplements may use the following ingredients. Some of these are very common, but of course, to confuse
and otherwise confound the general public, these must be complicated by name! However with a little research all is
revealed! Beware!
- Natrum Muriaticum - (Sodium Chloride) (common table salt) which must also be used in moderation.
- Chelidonium Majus - (Celandine)
- Phosphoricum Acidium - ordinary Phosphoric Acid
- Hepar - (Sulphuris Calcareum) Common calcium sulphide
- Arnica Montana - (Arnica) An herb commonly used for bruising,
swelling and if used upon injury, pain. It also relieves muscle aches, sprains, and strains.
- Pancreatinum - PANCREATIC ENZYMES usually Extract of Pancreatic and Salivary Glands of Ox or Sheep.
- Bovine - Usually an extracts from some part of cows, BEWARE of this one)
- Nuphar Luteum - (Yellow Water Lily considered an aphrodisiac)
Following are some more well-known and researched supplements used in some natural and effective HGH stimulation formulas.
- Somatotropin, Recombinant somatotropin (Growth Hormone) is from natural sources and uses no animal extracts.
- Herba Epimedii - (Epimedium sagittatum) Chinese herb which stimulates the pituitary gland and strengthens the kidneys.
It also stabilizes heart rhythm and greatly raises energy.
- Kelp Seaweed contains nearly thirty minerals which nourish the glands, especially the pituitary and thyroid glands. By enhancing
the action of the glandular system, it helps balance the body's metabolism and rate at which it burns calories. Kelp is currently being researched as an HGH stimulator.
- Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) is a spleen tonic which indirectly strengthens the immune system. Motherwort helps support the blood
in terms of blood building qualities such as hemoglobin.
- Ginkgo Biloba increases blood circulation and oxygen levels to the brain tissues, pituitary gland and cerebral areas. Ginkgo
also increases the brain's electrical activity and prevents platelet aggregation inside arterial walls. Ginkgo is a powerful ally with Condorongo Bark in proper proportions.
- Spiny Jujube is said to tone the spleen. Barrenwort is a spleen tonic, which indirectly strengthens the immune system. Barrenwort
helps support the blood in terms of blood building qualities such as hemoglobin.

The Power of Friendly Bacteria
In this article we will take a look at the benefits of having bacteria inside your body. You can find bacteria
on your skin, in your digestive tract, in your throat, and in every other part of your body, but it is the bacteria in
your intestines that we are concerned with here.
It is generally believed that having bacteria in your body is harmful to you and that it will cause you to
become ill, but this is not so. The truth is, your body needs bacteria in order to survive.
What are bacteria? Bacteria are single cell organisms that are among the most simple and most abundant life
forms on earth.
You have both friendly and not-so-friendly bacteria in your body, and both of these are meant to be there. The
friendly bacteria is responsible for the digestion of your food, for breaking down waste products, for cleaning
waste material from your intestinal wall, and for producing essential vitamins that your body needs.
For these reasons, friendly bacteria in your gastrointestinal tract is known as the second of the two
"workers" in your body, and it is essential for your good health.
You also have something known as Candida Albicans in your gastrointestinal tract. Candida Albicans is a
yeast-like fungal microorganism that lives in your intestines, and in a healthy person it does not cause a
problem. Your body maintains a delicate balance between this Candida Albicans and the friendly
bacteria, with the friendly bacteria being in control.
This delicate balance is sometimes upset when you become ill. When you have an infection in your body
the first thing you are likely to do is go and see your doctor, and the first thing he is likely to do is give you
some form of antibiotic.
Antibiotics are routinely prescribed for an infection without anyone checking to see if the infection is
caused by a virus, or some form of bacteria. This first step is very important because antibiotics only kill
bacteria, they do not harm either a virus or a fungus.
Why is this so? To understand that we have to look at the difference between a virus and bacteria. A virus is
described as "a minute parasitic microorganism much smaller than a bacterium that, having no independent
metabolic activity, may replicate only within a cell of a living plant or animal host". In other words, a virus
lives inside the cells of your body where an antibiotic cannot reach it.
Bacteria on the other hand are "single cell organisms that do not have a nucleus, are much larger infectious
agents than viruses, and live outside the plant or animal host cell". This means that they can easily be reached
by an antibiotic and can be destroyed.
When you take an antibiotic, it will kill the bacteria that causes the infection, but unfortunately, it will also kill
the friendly bacteria in your intestines. Antibiotics cannot harm a fungus, so when the friendly bacteria are
destroyed, the fungal Candida population increases and soon grows out of control.
As the Candida yeast fungus grows it releases toxic chemicals into the blood, which then attack your
immune system. When this happens, your immune system is weakened and this usually leads to an
infection in your body known as Candidiasis. Candidiasis is a fungal infection that travels through the
bloodstream to all parts of your body and causes all kinds of problems, including constipation, diarrhea,
abdominal cramps, vaginitis, kidney and bladder infections, etc.
Candidiasis affects both sexes but it seems to strike women more often than men. The most common
symptom of candidiasis in women is a yeast infection. Candidiasis needs food to survive and it seems to thrive
especially well on sugar and gluten.
There is another problem that can be caused by lack of friendly bacteria in your intestinal tract and it is
something called IBD. IBD is generally referred to as a group of chronic disorders that cause inflammation or
ulceration in the small or large intestines. IBD is usually classified either as Crohn's Disease or
Ulcerative Colitis, but it is sometimes also called Colitis, Enteritis, Ileitis, or Proctitis. This is caused by
the not-so-friendly bacteria that were mentioned earlier.
Crohn's Disease is the more common and the more serious of these diseases, and is an inflammation that
extends into all the layers of the intestinal wall.
Ulcerative Colitis is less severe than Crohn's Disease and is an inflammation that affects only the innermost
lining on the colon.
The effects of IBD are very serious and can include severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, bleeding, weight loss,
and fever. In an advanced case of Crohn's Disease all the layers of the intestine have become inflamed and
swollen. This will cause partial or complete blockage of the intestinal tract, where, in the case of the large
intestine, the only medical solution may be the partial or complete removal of the colon. This is only done
when the Crohn's Disease becomes serious enough to be life threatening.
All of these problems can be avoided simply by making sure that the friendly bacteria in your intestines are not
destroyed. This can be accomplished by not using antibiotics, by staying away from radiation, and by
avoiding any activity that weakens your immune system.
You can increase the amount of friendly bacteria in your intestines by taking supplements in the form of
digestive enzymes and cultured live (friendly) bacteria. This will boost your immune system and help to control
the harmful bacteria in your intestines.
Find digestive enzymes and supplements here.
For friendly bacteria supplements click here
Also, the harmful bacteria in your intestines feeds on sugar and gluten, and to help to control this bacteria
you really should stay away from all white flour products, all pastries, and all sugar.
Some great sugar substitutes can be found here

Cancer - Naturally - without Chemo, Radiation, or Surgery". More information on the power of friendly
bacteria is available at http://www.defeatcancer.ca Other articles by Ron Harder are available at

Herbs that Ease Anxiety and Fear
c. 2002 by Susun S. Weed
In the wake of the terrorist attacks (9-11), many women find that they are fearful, anxious, nervous, or depressed. In this series of articles adapted from her best-selling book New Menopausal Years the Wise Woman Way, available at Herbalremedies.com, herbalist Susun S Weed shares her favorite herbs and home remedies for dealing with fear, anxiety, nervousness, grief, depression, rage, fatigue, and sleeplessness. Her Wise Woman remedies are simple and safe to use, easy to find and buy, and amazingly effective.
Fear and anxiety are closely linked, but quite different. Fear is focused, anxiety is diffuse. Fear is health promoting and protective: It keeps us from jumping off cliffs. Anxiety can destroy health and increase our vulnerability: It shortens our breath, narrows our blood vessels, and interferes with the functioning of the immune system. Fear is useful energy; it calls to our courage. Anxiety is useless; it promotes feelings of insecurity, helplessness, and weakness.
Notice the difference in yourself between fear and anxiety. Whenever possible, find the fear hidden in your anxiety and let it call forth your strength and power. The following remedies can help you make this transformation.
Bach flower remedies are easy to carry and use. A dose is 1-4 drops, taken as needed. One or more of the following may ease your anxiety: Aspen (anxious about the future); Mimulus (anxious about the past); Red Chestnut (anxious about the safety of others); Elm (overwhelming anxiety); Rock Rose (anxiety that escalates into panic).
The smell of roses has been used for centuries to ease anxiety. A touch of rose essential oil on the seam of your sleeve will wrap you in calming fragrance all day. To magnify the effect, have a massage with rose-scented balms. Even one massage can cause a marked decrease in anxiety for weeks afterwards.
Yoga postures, yoga breathing, and quiet, focused meditation are excellent ways to tonify (and soothe) the sympathetic nervous system. Regular practice alleviates anxiety, often permanently. If you feel so anxious you think you might burst, try the lion pose. Open your mouth very wide; even wider! Stick your tongue out; even further. Open your eyes really wide; bigger. Rotate eyes left, then right. Breathe deeply and exhale fully up to ten times. Keep the shoulders and the forehead relaxed. This pose unblocks the throat, releases facial tension, relaxes the breathing muscles, and relieves anxiety.
Stinging nettle infusion strengthens the adrenals: relieving anxiety and building focused energy. Depleted adrenals often over-react, giving rise to sudden sensations of anxiety, fear, and nervousness. Use bulk herb, not tea bags, not capsules. Put one ounce by weight (about a cup by volume) of the dried nettle herb in a quart jar. Fill the jar to the top with boiling water and cover tightly. Let steep for at least four hours; overnight is fine. Strain herb out and drink the remaining liquid. Iced nettle infusion is particularly good. The taste is green, like spinach broth, and is better seasoned with salt than sugar or honey. Refrigerate your nettle infusion after straining it and drink it promptly as it is likely to ferment is kept for more than two days.
Oat straw infusion is another favorite of those who want to feel less anxious. Preparation is the same as for nettle infusion; remember to avoid tea bags and capsules. The taste of oat straw is softer and mellower; you will enjoy it warm with a little honey. Green oat tincture is much more powerful than oat straw infusion. It is especially useful for those whose anxiety is combined with excessive nervous energy. Or try a hot bath with lemon balm or oat straw; an ancient remedy for bad cases of the "nerves." Ahhhh. . . .
Motherwort tincture is my favorite calmative. It is not sleep inducing nor mind numbing. A dose of 10-20 drops can safely be taken as often as every ten minutes, if needed, to calm and soothe sore spirits. "Like sitting in my mother's lap," one satisfied user commented.
A dropper of St. John's Wort Tincture is the remedy to reach for when you are on edge and feel like anything will push you over it. The dose can be repeated safely several times an hour if needed. This nerve-nourishing and nerve-strengthening herb relieves the immediate anxiety and helps prevent future distress as well.
Herbal tranquilizers are safer than prescription tranquilizers, but are best reserved for occasional use. Valerian is the best known. Because its action can be quite strong, it is best to begin with a five-drop dose, which can be repeated every 10-15 minutes until you are calm (and probably asleep). To avoid addiction, use valerian root as a tea or a tincture, not in capsules, and take it for no more than three weeks. Skullcap tincture is less addictive and often more effective. The dose is 10-20 drops of fresh plant tincture or 1-2 dropper of dried plant tincture. Skullcap can also be sleep inducing, but it is rarely habituating.
Exercise is a ready remedy for overwhelming anxiety. If you feel like running away from it all, running or skating or walking briskly might be the very thing to do. Fifteen to twenty minutes of heart-pounding exercise will use up your excess adrenalin and "eat up" your stress.
Extreme fear or anxiety may lead to hyperventilation. If you are breathing rapidly and shallowly and feel spaced out you can 1) breathe into a paper bag until normal breathing resumes or 2) hold your breath (you can actually put your hand over your nose and mouth) for a count of 20; then breathe out as slowly as you can.
Calcium keeps the nerves steady. A glass of warm milk is an old wives' trusted ally for relieving anxiety. Stinging nettle is an excellent source of calcium when brewed as an infusion; one cup can contain as much as 500 mg of calcium. Oatstraw infusion is also loaded with calcium, with one cup containing up to 300 mg. Soy beverage can have the opposite effect -- that is, it may increase anxiety -- due to its ability to disrupt thyroid functioning and interfere with calcium metabolism. One herbalist who consumed large quantities of soy "milk" and soy protein bars wound up in the hospital with an irregular heartbeat and severe anxiety. If you think you are lactose intolerant, drink no more than four ounces of milk at a time, or use yogurt instead of milk. (Yogurt is generally free of lactose.)
Of course you don't want to do all these things at once! But you could join a yoga class, use nettle or oatstraw infusion daily, and have a bottle of motherwort or skullcap tincture handy for times when you are exceptionally anxious. By working with strengthening herbs and exercises, you not only relieve the bothersome symptoms but also improve your overall health. That's the Wise Woman Way..

Studies and the author of four highly acclaimed herbal medicine handbooks.

Herb of the Month
Chamomile
Some Other Names: Camomile, Chamomile, Sweet Chamomile, and German Chamomile
Chamomile is an annual herb originally from Europe, which has escaped to the wild and is now naturalized on almost every continent. Cultivation: Chamomile is easily cultivated, further south, from seed or root division, prefers full sun and a light well drained soil. The branched stem is somewhat erect, round, hollow, and grows to about 20 inches tall. The leaves are bipinnate, finely divided, light green and feathery. The flowers are daisy-like about 1 inch across and bloom from May to October. The entire plant has a pineapple scent (apple to some) and planted in the garden is said to help sickly plants to grow.
Properties: Chamomile is edible and medicinal. The flowers are edible and quite tasty in salads or made into a refreshing cold or warm beverage. Chamomile flowers are used in alternative medicine as an anodyne, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, nervine, stomachic, tonic, vasodilatory. The flowers contain various volatile oils including proazulenes. Upon steam distillation these proazulenes produce chamazulene, this is remarkably anti-allergenic and is useful in the treatment of asthma and hay fever.
The chief constituent of Chamaemelum have been identified as esters of angelic and tiglic, together with amyl and isobutyl alcohol's. It also contains anthemol and a hydrocarbon anthemene. The flowers are sometimes added to cosmetics as an anti-allergenic agent. Chamomile flower tea is used as a sedative and is good for insomnia and many other nervous conditions.
The tea has anti-inflammatory properties, good for rheumatism, arthritis, and other painful swellings. It is also an antispasmodic for intestinal and menstrual cramps, relieving gas pains, acts as a very mild but efficient laxative, and loosens tight muscles. Milder tea in large doses is given throughout the day for fevers, sore throats, the aches and pains due to colds, flu, and allergies. It is nervine and sedative especially suited to teething children and those who have been in a highly emotional state over a long period of time.
Applied externally as a wash or compress for skin inflammations, sunburn, burns, and added to bath for relaxing tired, achy muscles and feet, and softening the skin. The flowers are made into a salve for use on hemorrhoids and wounds. The dried herb is made into potpourri and herb pillows, and is burned for aromatherapy.
The dried flowers are used as an insect repellent. An infusion of the flowers is used as a hair shampoo, especially for fair hair. It is used as a liquid feed and plant tonic, effective against a number of plant diseases. An essential oil from the whole plant is used as a flavoring and in making perfume.
Folklore: It is said that the Egyptians dedicated Chamomile to their sun god and valued it over all other herbs for its healing qualities. Due to its sedative and relaxing properties Chamomile was an ingredient in some love potions in the middle ages.
TRY THESE RECIPES
Relaxing tea: To 1 cup boiling water add 2 tsp. dried flowers. Steep covered for 10 min.
For Bath: Use ½ to 1 cup fresh or dried herb tied in linen bag. Place in tub with hot water let soak for 10 min. then add cold water to the temp. you like. Do not add soap to bath as it will coat your skin and not allow the Chamomile to penetrate.
